Start of a the UpdateInstaller page

New page

The [[UpdateInstaller]] is a utility downloaded by the server front-ends when they get out of date, update checks are preformed only when the server starts. Depending on your configuration, it can be automatically launched to always stay up-to-date. The UpdateInstaller has the latest fCraft build embedded and extracts it to replace the current fCraft binaries.

UpdateInstaller doesn't normally change the
config.xml
or
PlayerDB.txt
, so all configuration and player info is preserved. config.xml updating is done only by the ConfigGUI, while the PlayerDB is converted to a possible new version by the server itself.

UpdateInstaller is normally started by the server front-end, which will exit itself to allow for a clean update.
